Enjoy the benefits of plant power

Despite the end of the April snowstorm, the planting season is about to happen. Soon we will have the opportunity to enjoy the flowers in bloom, budding trees and fresh vegetables.

Beyond its aesthetic value and the quality of its food, plants have other powers to help balance other areas of life. When you start your plants in pots and garden supplies this spring and summer, try some of these green to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Anti-inflammatory power: If you struggle with inflammation, try adding basil to your diet. Basil contains a specific type of oil that blocks inflammatory enzymes. Try adding the basil to a fresh salad or a tomato sauce. It is also a good companion for tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinegar. Basil is also considered a detrusor due to its pleasant fragrance.

Anti-cancer agents: It is believed that rosemary helps fight against carcinogens, due to its antioxidant powers. Rosemary is a low maintenance and easy to grow grass, which can be used inside the house. It is a pleasant fragrance and a light flavor makes a great addition to baked dishes, pork, chicken and whole grains.

Like rosemary, garlic and crayfish are also considered cancerous lesions. Garlic and onion are part of the allium family of vegetables, which has been associated with the fight against free radicals and reduce the risk of cancer. These two plants are easy to grow and produce delicious results.

Digestive Health: It is believed that peppermint calms digestive problems and relieves the symptoms of indigestion. Peppermint plants are easy to grow in a barrel and require little maintenance. When they are ready for the harvest, take the leaves and add them to the tea - frozen or cold. To give it a touch, try planting the hybrid versions like strawberry and mint, mint chocolate (mmm) and orange mint.

Big green: finding fresh lettuce in rural areas is a challenge at certain times of the year. This year, try planting spinach, leafy lettuce or other green varieties to enjoy this natural source of folic acid, vitamin A, C, and K.

Sleep well: If you have trouble controlling enough wink quality at night, try placing a jasmine plant in your room. Scented jasmine flowers and exotic scent promote a sense of calm and can do wonders for better sleep. For other benefits, such as supporting the immune system, try jasmine tea.

Take the time to consider the healthy benefits you are feeling and find a natural source of relief. Bonus - Gardening is a form of activity, so you burn calories while you plant and reap the fruits of your labor. There is nothing so satisfying (and profitable) as shopping in your own garden.

Keep in mind that if you are taking medication, be sure to consult your primary care physician before making changes to your diet. Some plants and herbs can interact with the manufacture of ineffective drugs.
